Digester Sludge Heater System Upgrades and Boiler Removal Calumet

BEI worked in close coordination with IHC to install underground feeders to ensure power was available to the new mechanical equipment.  a concrete encased ductbank of sixteen 4” fiberglass conduits were routed ¼ mile to the retrofitted electrical distribution building.  From there, twelve 3” fiberglass conduits were routed to each “cluster” of the anaerobic digester complex.

New motor control centers and distributed control system cabinets were located outside the harsh environment of the Class 1 Division 1 “Clusters”.  In the “Clusters” explosion proof pumps, actuators, starters, panelboards and more were installed to operate and control the new mechanical equipment.  As part of our Safety Guidelines BEI’s crew always wore Gas Monitoring Equipment while working.
